Volunteer Opportunities 
We're looking for a small handful of people for August and September

We are excited to welcome our first group of work-trade volunteers to be a part of our crew at La Huerta in August and September

​

Rainy season is here! While that means our hosting season ends, it also means that there is a lot to do in the farm.  Join us for two months and help us continue growing and maintaining our farm systems.  We'll be planting trees, maintaining and expanding our Agroforestry systems, propagating plants, getting food in the ground.  The work is physical and fun.  In addition to farm work we'll be busy on construction projects to continue building our infrastructure.   We do our best to pair people with their passions in balance with our priorities for the farm.

While our primary goal is farm support, we're also open to filling a few other niches.  If you've culinary passions and want to help support us by cooking meals for the crew, or you have a knack for media and content creation please fill out the application.

Note's and FAQ's​

  • Things are fairly quiet here this time of year.  There will be 5 to 8 of us here total.

  • We don't like to count hours and prefer people to follow their natural rhythm, but work expectations are generally 4-5 hours.

  • We are early risers and get to bed around 9pm most nights.  Most people adjust to this naturally after a week or two. 

  • It is rainy season.  Usually it is nice in the morning and rains come in the afternoons.

  • It'll likely be a mix of group and self directed projects.  It really depends on everyone's flow and preferences.

  • You'll be expected to help with communal chores.

  • We'll provide food: we'll keep the kitchen stocked with veggies, grains and fruit, eggs, etc.  We do eat meat, but welcome non-meat eaters of course.  You'll be responsible for snacks and any special items you'd like to eat.

  • ​This time of year we enjoy games, movie nights, and an occasional dinner party. 

  • We do have high speed internet.

  • The nearby towns of San Mateo and Orotina are just 15 minutes away.

  • We're located conveniently in central Costa Rica just an hour from the airport.
